Our story… why we source and supply Inca Inchi Protein Powder

Wanting to provide a very high quality, pure, chemical free protein powder for her family, Cyndi was unable to find a source in Australia. After searching many countries, we saw the Inca Inchi plant grown and harvested in Peru by an ethical company that met our strict organic ‘real food’ requirements.

History of Inca Inchi

Inca Inchi is also known as Sacha Inchi and has been called one of nature’s most impressive superfoods.

The Inca Inchi plant is indigenous to the Peruvian Amazon Forest and produces small seeds that are extremely rich in high quality, nutritious oils and protein.  The seeds is pressed to separate the oil, leaving the powder which is a natural plant based source of inca inchi powder.

The qualities that set this protein powder apart from others is that it gives us the essential and non essential amino acids –plus vitamins and minerals in one natural product with no high temperature processing and preservatives or chemical alteration of the food.

Over 10 years ago, there was no such thing as inca inchi / sacha inchi powder. Nobody knew about this seed and the potential it had for industrialization. Indigenous people from the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest only knew that its name was inca inchi, which means ‘Almond of the Inca’ (this information comes direct from our source).

Our Inca Inchi story

Unable to source a pure protein powder from Australia, for many months we searched various countries including Peru where we saw the Inca Inchi plant grown and harvested by an ethical company that met our strict organic ‘real food’ requirements.

100% Inca Inchi Protein Powder

Inca Inchi Protein Powder is over 60% complete protein, meaning it contains all the essential amino acids. A serving contains 6g of protein.

This powder also contains minerals including magnesium which is required for protein synthesis, bone structure, muscle function and electrolyte balance.

Inca inchi/Sacha Inchi Powder is made from the seed that has been cold pressed to remove the oil (Inca Inchi Oil). The dried powder contains high quality proteins (unlike some whey based, chemically enhanced protein) and thus has become one of nature’s superfoods!

The Peruvian government started to promote the industrialization of inca inchi seeds as an alternative for farmers to stop cultivating coca, which is one of the main ingredients for the production of cocaine. Today, the local people benefit economically from the harvest of this seed.

Inca inchi seeds and inca inchi protein powder are considered a low allergenic, all natural single ingredient food and provide a good substitute for people who develop sensitivity to whey protein and other highly processed protein powders.

There has been very few reports of allergic reaction to inca inchi involving anaphylaxis, hives, rashes etc. While most people tolerate inca inchi very well, there have been isolated reports of vomiting and diarrhoea within a few hours of taking inca inchi. A possible explanation for this is that inca inchi is such a rich source of omegas and protein that a few people have a reaction to this, which may be unique to their individual make up. If this occurs, we suggest you greatly reduce the dosage and if symptoms persist, stop taking inca inchi altogether.

I use it to up my protein in the morning before or after exercise in my daily green drink. Quite a distinct flavour, don’t need too much, but versatile for a few different things!

After reading what Cindy has to say about the protein powders in the market it is good to have this naturally derived choice to be able to use when i need to up my protein. It has a nutty taste but when mixed with berries and bananas in a smoothie it tastes great! I even used it to make some protein balls this week and it worked a treat – really yummy!

The kids and I love the nuttiness of this product, we all have it in our daily smoothies. I like that it’s a natural protein boost for the kids, especially when it’s hard to get other natural forms of protein into them.

I received my inca inchi oil and protein powder and wow! The taste is devine. I was skeptical that with all those health benefits that it would be appetising. This is starting my adventure on food as medicine, health and vitality and importantly taste and lifestyle.
I am a chef and very interested in creating new menus replacing ingredients with the Changing Habits items.
    Thank you for your dedication.

Personally I like the Inca Inchi powder & use in smoothies, bliss balls etc. I do find I need to use smaller quantities though as the kids don’t enjoy the flavour as much.
