At Changing Habits, we like to keep things simple…our salted seeds have only been gently roasted a touch of sea salt and our caramelised seeds have only been gently roasted and caramelised with Rapadura sugar and a little sea salt. Our story… why we source organic Inca Inchi Seeds
Based on the many health benefits that both our organic Inca Inchi Oil and Inca Inchi Protein Powder provides, Cyndi wanted to extend this real food range with the organic Inca Inchi Seeds. These nutritious snacks are not only delicious but are very filling and full of protein. Each of these products are sourced from the Inca Inchi plant, grown and harvested in Peru by an ethical company that meets our strict organic ‘real food’ requirements. Inca Inchi is also known as Sacha Inchi and has been called one of nature’s most impressive superfoods. Indigenous people from the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest only knew that its name was inca inchi, which means ‘Almond of the Inca’ (this information comes direct from the manufacturers in the Amazon). The real historical name of the product is Inca Inchi. The Inca Inchi plant “Plukenetia Volúbilis Linneo” is indigenous to the Peruvian Amazon Forest and produces small seeds that are extremely rich in high quality, nutritious oils and protein. The Inca Inchi plant is a small one with small hermaphrodite flowers producing small pods (green at first and brown when ripe) which usually has 6 lobes. Each lobe contains a seed of 15 to 20 mm width with an average weight of 1 gram. Inca inchi seeds are rich in nutrients and essential fatty acids, much more than other oilseed plants known. Our supplier follows the Bio Trade principles, working with the local grower to ensure sustainability, fair trade and helping to develop and maintain a high standard crop. The Inca Inchi seed is a complete source of protein and contains essential fatty acids and dietary fibre, making it a great snack. We like to keep things simple, which is why the Inca Inchi Caramelised seed has only been gently roasted and caramelised with rapadura sugar and a touch of sea salt.
