Sol Organics is based in Byron Bay, Australia, and was founded by mum-of-three Jen Sarson. After Jen was diagnosed at age 30 with autoimmune disease Crohn’s, she was put on a regime of heavy medications and experienced two miscarriages. She embarked on a journey of trying to cure herself using natural medicine and was introduced to Ayurveda (Hindu system of medicine) by a friend. Through the use of Ayurvedic herbal treatments, Jen no longer needed to take her heavy medications and successfully conceived her second child.
While pregnant, Jen started studying Ayurvedic medicine. As part of her practical training, she travelled to New Zealand to the Ayurvedic Institute where she learnt traditional Ayurvedic cooking and was taught how to make ghee by Dr Ajit, one of the leading Ayurvedic practitioners in the world.
Once Jen learnt the special art of making ghee, she started making it for family and friends who all enjoyed it. She wanted to spread the love of ghee and other Ayurvedic foods, herbs and spices. When Jen approached her local health food store to see if they would like her to make them some to sell to the community, they were excited to do so and so Sol Ghee Byron Bay was born! The love of Sol Ghee has since spread nationwide!
Jen sources and uses only the finest quality 100% certified organic and grass-fed butter to make her ghee.
