This would make a delicious lunch box option for kids and for the guys that struggle to give up their regular sausage rolls, turnover's and pie's.
The delicious pastry is made using Tania Hubbard's original besan pastry recipe from her brilliant cookbook Abundance. All Changing Habits followers can grab a copy for $10 (RRP $24.95), a special offer Tania put together just for you!

Preheat the oven to 180C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Sift the besan flour into a bowl.
Add the remaining flour ingredients and use your hands to combine the mixture together and form a dough.
Place a piece of baking paper onto the bench and dust it with extra besan flour.
Now place the dough on top and dust it with extra besan flour to stop the rolling pin from sticking to it.
Roll the pastry out with a rolling pin and keep dusting the dough with extra flour if required to stop it sticking to the rolling pin and baking paper. Roll it out to your desired thickness.
Now add all the filling ingredients together in a bowl, and stir to combine.
Slice the pastry into 3-4 pieces (depending on how you rolled out the pastry) and place the mince mixture into the middle of the pastry and create a sausage shape.
Wrap the pastry around the mince mixture to create a turnover or a triangle shape. Use a fork to crimp the edges together so the filling doesn't leak out.
Prick the turnovers using a fork to allow steam to escape when cooking.
Brush the pastry with the melted butter.
Place the turn overs in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and serve straight away with homemade tomato or BBQ sauce.

The 1.5 besen flour. Is that 1.5 cups?
I have not heard of that flour. What could be substituted please.
Hi Jo. Besan flour is chickpea flour and yes, it is cups 🙂 You could try substituting it with buckwheat flour or the Gluten Free Flour Co Grain Free Flour https://changinghabits.com.au/product/gluten-free-flour-co-grain-free-flour-blend-400g/ Hope this helps 🙂
What is 1.50 in the Besan flour? One and half cups I’m guessing ? Want to make this but not sure on that measurement.
Hi Cassie. Yes, it’s cups. Sorry for the confusion – I have updated the recipe now 🙂
