This International Women’s Day, remember to prioritise self-care, set boundaries, eat well, and surround yourself with positive energy. When we take care of ourselves, we can take better care of those around us. Cheers to strong, healthy, and empowered women everywhere!
International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the contributions of women both professionally and their role as a parent and nurturers
Women play a crucial role in society, often balancing multiple roles, such as working, parenting, and taking care of their families. With all these responsibilities, it’s easy to forget the importance of taking care of oneself. As women, we often put others’ needs before our own, neglecting our own health and well-being.
As the saying goes, “you can’t pour from an empty cup, and when you start by taking care of yourself, you’re then able to take care of those around you.
This International Women’s Day, let’s switch our focus on us as individual women and our health. So how do we start filling our own cups? Firstly by focussing on incorporating healthy eating habits into our routines. As Desmond Tutu once said “there is only one way to eat an elephant: one a bite at a time.” Meaning that any goal, project, task or dream can feel overwhelming, and even impossible in the beginning, but by taking things on gradually, one step at a time, you can achieve what you set out to do. By starting with small steps such as swapping out processed sugar for natural alternatives like Rapadura sugar or honey, or improving your gut health through taking probiotics daily can have such positive changes in how we look and feel, that it then feels easier to implement more small changes. Committing to a 20 minute daily walk, or a 10 minute daily meditation, remembering your ‘why’ and holding yourself accountable can over time, change our habits completely.
“International Women’s Day is about celebrating women. And women need to be healthy in order to do leadership roles, to do the things they want to do. So, for the next 52 weeks, I would love to see women concentrate on their health, then their children and family’s health, then helping their friends and their community. When we find health physically and mentally, we are able to achieve more.” Cyndi O’Meara
