Hormone-Loving Chocolate Balls

by | Mar 8, 2022 | 0 comments

There is a reason why you crave chocolate around your period, because our hormones are asking for it. The vitamin and mineral make-up of cacao and pumpkin seeds create a perfect snack for any time we feel like we need some balancing. Mostly due to the magnesium, iron, manganese and calcium content; these cacao and pumpkin seed protein balls, with the powerful addition of both pre and probiotics, make the perfect hormone balancing snack!

Yields1 ServingDifficultyBeginner
100g nut butter (I used almond, though you could use any; peanut, brazil nut, cashew nut)
 60g pumpkin seeds/pepitas
 25-30g coconut oil
1-2 teaspoons fresh or Changing Habits Ginger Powder(I put 2 tsp, because I love it! Though you can add to taste)
1

In a blender, add the cacao melts and blend until fine, though still slightly coarse (almost a bread crumb consistency).

2

Add the remaining ingredients and again blend until a bread crumb consistency. Taste the mix, you can add more ginger, cinnamon sweetness etc, and ensure the flavour is how you like it!

3

Using a spoon, scoop up some ingredients, place in hand and compress, then roll into balls.

4

If they are not rolling well and are too crumbly, add more dates.

5

Roll the balls in a topping of your choice such as desiccated coconut, ground pepitas, groun nuts or cinnamon - or keep them plain! Store in the fridge and enjoy.
