ABC Catalyst series – Gut Reaction Part 2 (Thurs 21 Aug). Could our food be making us sick – very sick? In
the second episode of this two-part special, Dr Graham Phillips revealed
new research about the interplay between food and the bacteria deep
within our guts.
I watched this series and thought it was excellent. However, wouldn’t it be better to prevent a disease in our micro biome by stopping the unnecessary use of foods with preservatives, packaged refined foods, drugs, antibiotics and chlorinated water, as well as the obsession of cleanliness? Then we wouldn’t have to have a poo transplant! If it grosses you out, then do the right thing by your body in the first place. I understand that some people have destroyed their micro biome and this procedure might be their only hope, but for me I’ll prevent the issue from happening.
I also was waiting for them to mention the beauty of fermented foods and other ways of replenishing the good bacteria through food, and also preventing the bad bacteria from thriving. All in all, I choose to stay away from chemicals that will kill the good bacteria and eat foods that will allow the good bacteria to thrive.
Still, thank you Catalyst for all your wonderful stories on health and current research in the field of food, nutrition and disease. Loving them.

Is the the gut biome test/ evaluation that they conducted readily available in Australia. If so where? Thx Paul
Hi Paul,
We generally recommend you get your stools tested through Bioscreen or Nutripath 🙂
