Food, Love and Changing Habits

The power of food never ceases to amaze us. Changing Habits was built on the ethos of providing ethical and trusted food sources to the world; so that in turn we can educate to improve the health of people and communities for generations to come. But the beauty of food is that it has become more than simply something to sustain or to survive, food is how we bring people together, form connections, console and congratulate. ‘To break bread together’ is a tradition captured from ancient times that we now see mimicked in the modern era through something as simple as a birthday cake or left-over lasagne. During the month of St Valentine, we remind you to share love with yourself, and others, through food.

Showing love through food:

Cooking For Others

Meeting your neighbour, hosting love ones and bringing family together for a moment in time – food is a universal language.

Not only are there countless studies to suggest that sitting down for a family meal can improve academic performance of children, improve internal personal relationships and maintain health, but it’s also an incredible tool to facilitate new relationships and create a safe space for sharing amongst those dear to you; a delicious meal can even be an incredible icebreaker to encourage conversation whilst networking in a more formal social setting! Sharing and enjoying food creates quality time, kindness, community and love.

Cooking With Others

Why cook for others when you can cook with them? Preparing a meal with someone keeps traditions alive, bonds loved ones and creates a space to learn about the culture and history of others.

Whether it be cooking with a new partner and learning the nuances of how each other peel vegetables differently, a mother passing a family recipe onto her daughter on a Sunday morning, or colleagues sharing different dishes from their culture, making food is often an experience beyond just act of putting ingredients together. Creating recipes and cooking food is an experience of celebration, belief systems and rituals known throughout history.

The Gift of Food

Food is celebration and comfort; give the gift of good health to friend in recovery, nourish a broken heart and celebrate occasions with home cooked goodies.

The holidays are the perfect time to put love into a nourishing, delicious dish and gift it to a loved one; celebrate with cake on birthdays; provide comfort from loss with a large lasagne. Share love, kindness and compassion through the joys and nourishment of food all year around.

Building Connections

Food is a connection that binds the human race. Sharing and enjoying food together forges relationships, cultivates laughter and buries anger.

Food has been known to bring peace, not only with others but within your mind. Cooking with others, sharing the experience of food and nourishing your body has been shown to improve mental and physical health. Sharing food is in an incredible way to meet your neighbours, forge deeper relationships with colleagues, family and friends and build on the connection you have with your own body.
